We booked a Baltic Cruise leaving out of Amsterdam and we told the most convenient location was the Movenpick city center hotel. When we arrived we were immediately impressed with both the hotel and the location. We received a room on the 19th floor that had a view of the river and the city and it was breath taking. The front desk folks were extremely friendly and the best thing about this hotel is that it is on same block as the cruise terminal and so we could leisurely check out and walk to the terminal to check in. We stayed here for a couple of nights prior to a River Cruise up the Rhine. It is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the city centre and is large, clean modern hotel. We only dined for breakfast where there was a very large selection of quality food. Getting to breakfast on the first day was an issue as we waited 10 minutes before a lift arrived with space in it, the stairs weren't an option as they stop on the 2nd floor roof. Tip is to get in a lift going up and then you'll eventually end up at the restaurant.

We understand the importance of a varied and delicious breakfast and believe this is a great start before exploring the city of Amsterdam. It can indeed get busy in our guest premises and/ or elevators, and we kindly recommend our guests to use the stairs between the second and ground floor while the elevators are smartly designed to recognize waiting guests between the floors, or to continue in case of being full. This might give you the idea the elevator does not stop! Thank you for your understanding.
